The current (June) issue of The Wire contains the single greatest achievement of my writing life - the appearance of the word "Wensleydale" in a record review.
It's a review of I, Gemini, the debut album by Let's Eat Grandma. Wonderful record - great fun to write about. But also vaguely therapeutic - allowing me to delve into three preoccupations currently weighing heavy on the mind - adolescence, England, girls.

futures past and present
At Pitchfork, my review of Close To the Noise Floor, a fascinating box set of formative UK electronica from the late 70s and early 80s - synthpunk, industrial, minimal wave, ambient and unclassifiable oddities.

This week I am in Lyon for European Lab Forum to deliver a keynote - TOMORROW NEVER KNOWN : LE FUTUR IMPRÉVISIBLE DE LA POP CULTURE, followed by a dialogue with Wyndham Wallace. The subtitle translates as "The Unpredictable Future of Pop Culture" - literally not something you can predict, although that said, I probably will be unloosing a few rash prophesies and speculative probes.
